p8383: On June 12, 1939 LIFE Magazine published the story and pictures of our experience at the Saga Dawa in Gyangtse. The first photos ever of the Great Thanka, and the first color pictures ever taken in Tibet. This is the cover. It suggests that war is on the horizon.
